Pruning Fundamentals Class (9/6/08) FULL

THIS CLASS IS FULL. Please check our calendar for additional educational programs on a wide variety of topics.

In this class at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and co-sponsored by the New England Wild Flower Society, Rolf Briggs will explain and demonstrate how proper pruning can improve both the health and structure of woody plants and can also allow the gardener to influence the aesthetic qualities of trees and shrubs.

This workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. will cover pruning methods for established plantings in the home landscape.  Proper pruning involves understanding how plants grow and how they respond to pruning.  Learn how to select basic tools, make a proper cut, determine which branches to cut, and the correct time to prune for different species. If you have pruning shears, plesae bring them so you can try various cuts.

This class is eligible for NEWFS credit (Course Code: HOR3121).

The fee for this class is $33 for members and $39 for non-members. Reservations required, 207-633-4333 or stop by the Visitor Center.
