A broad curve of window wall, imaginative furnishings, sumptuous colors, and a pale bamboo floor make the Kitchen Garden Café in the Visitor Center an inviting spot for lunch or a snack during your visit to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. The view of the Great Lawn, Burpee Kitchen Garden, and the trees beyond give the impression that you’re dining al fresco.  And if you truly would like to dine outdoors, the Café Terrace is just the place to enjoy a relaxing meal amidst glorious surroundings.

The fine cooks at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens prepare foods that are as fresh as fresh can be. Whenever possible, they even use herbs and other edibles from the Burpee Kitchen Garden located right beside the café. The menu, which features favorites as well as innovative dishes, includes soups, salads, sandwiches, snacks, desserts, and beverages.

The Café is also the site of demonstrations and meals by acclaimed guest chefs, teas and tastings, and an array of culinary pleasures. The kids can get into the act too with ice cream socials, strawberry treats, and other entertaining food-related events.

The Café is open from 10-3 almost daily from May 1 through October 19 (closed Tuesdays in May). It will also be open for special events and programs throughout the year and is available for rentals during times when it is not open to the public.

With advance reservations, we will cater lunches for groups year-round. Tour groups are invited to order box lunches from the Café to be picked up upon arrival.
