Gardening With Nature (SOLD OUT)

Our gardens and garden practices are integrally tied to nature. This class will guide students through best garden design and management strategies that work in unison with nature, encouraging and embracing biodiversity and sustaining healthy, low-maintenance gardens. Anna Fialkoff, Program Manager at Wild Seed Project, will offer an overview of plant selection and some processes for achieving beautiful gardens that require minimal manual labor. The display gardens at CMBG will serve as a living classroom, offering a visually inspiring lesson of what you, too, can do at home. This course can be taken on its own or as a companion to the “Gardening with Nature ” field study offered later in the summer.

Anna was most recently Senior Horticulturist at Native Plant Trust’s Garden in the Woods in Framingham, MA, where she designed and installed native plant gardens, managed interns and volunteers, and taught how to incorporate native plants in home gardens. With a BA in human ecology from College of the Atlantic and an MS in ecological design from the Conway School, she brings with her a deep knowledge of native plant ecology, horticulture, conservation, and ecological landscape design.
