Highlights: This week, peonies (Paeonia spp.) and false indigo (Baptisia spp.) are beginning to emerge from their buds, adding bright pops of color to the garden beds. Lilacs, including the fragrant and eye-catching Miss Kim lilac (Syringa pubescens subsp. patula ‘Miss Kim’) in the Lerner Garden of the Five Senses are in their prime, as well as various cultivars of Oyama magnolias (Magnolia sieboldii). A small but striking specimen of showy lady’s slipper (Cypripedium reginae) can be spotted near the path through Slater Forest Pond.
