Propagating Native Wetland Herbaceous Plants

September 28 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Whether working adjacent to or amongst a wetland area, understanding specialized wetland species is vital to conservation and future growth. In this lecture and hands-on workshop, learn how to successfully propagate and grow wetland herbaceous plants, which will help sustain local provenance genetics by using locally sourced species beneficial to the environment. Students will learn how to propagate ferns, sedges, arrowheads, and more from experienced plant propagator Shawn Jalbert, owner of Native Haunts.

To complement this class and continue your repertoire of native wetland plant species, check out Propagating Native Wetland Woody Plants, which will be held on October 12, 2024.

A separately scheduled class in March 2025 will continue instructing students about nursery production practices of seedlings to finished plants, discussing budget, materials, and management practices.
