Volunteer Perks

As a valued volunteer, you’ll receive:

  • Gardens logoed volunteer shirts and engraved name tags for use during shifts.
  • Assorted logoed accessories (hats, water bottles, totes, etc.).
  • A dedicated break area, lockers, and even a shower is available for between shifts.
  • Ongoing training, orientation, and monthly learning opportunities.

Commitment & Requirements

To ensure a rewarding experience for both you and our visitors, we ask that volunteers:

  • Attend training and orientation – New volunteers must complete a two-day orientation. There are also role-specific trainings and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Dedicate time consistently – Volunteers must sign up for at least one shift every two weeks (shifts vary from 2–4 hours).
  • Be engaged and prepared – Many roles require standing for extended periods, being able to communicate clearly, and being comfortable interacting with guests and staff.
  • Follow program guidelines – All volunteers must read and sign the agreements outlined in the Volunteer Handbook.

Guest Services – Be a welcoming face for visitors as an Ambassador, Docent, Troll Ambassador, or Shuttle Driver.

Horticulture – Get your hands dirty assisting our team with planting, weeding, mulching, gardening, and more.

Education – Inspire curiosity in our Butterfly House, Learning Apiary, or as a Youth Education Steward.
