Highlights: This week, visitors entering through the Emory Welcome Gardens might be wowed by the the massive scarlet blooms of the Midnight Marvel hibiscus (Hibiscus ‘Midnight Marvel’). Hydrangeas (Hydrangea) of many species and cultivars continue to bloom across the gardens—a particularly interesting example being the SNOW FLAKE oakleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Brido’ SNOW FLAKE) in flower near the restrooms of the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children’s Garden. The vibrant spires of our beloved cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) and great blue lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica), both native to Maine, can be found in almost every garden area.
