Green Spotlight Series: Tree Care Strategies for Our Changing Climate

Climate change impacts both heritage and newly planted tree species. Kristina Bezanson, Master Arborist and professor at UMass Stockbridge, will discuss specialized arboriculture practices, tree selection, and analyses that will help to prevent, protect, or extend the life of our valuable trees. Foresters, arborists, landscapers, or land stewards, will benefit from this vital discussion of how we consider the evolving effects of climate change.

Instructor Bio:
Kristina Bezanson is the program coordinator for the associate degree and online certificate programs in Arboriculture and Community Forestry at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at UMass, Amherst, MA. Kristina is an International Society of Arborists Board Certified Master Arborist, Municipal Specialist, Qualified Tree Risk Assessor, and a Massachusetts Certified Arborist. As the President-Elect of the New England Chapter of ISA, Kristina teaches several arboriculture courses at UMass and manages Arboriculture major internships at Stockbridge School of Agriculture. At the Mt. Ida campus of UMass, Kristina teaches arboriculture with Power Corps Boston apprentices focused on workforce development and environmental justice in urban forestry professions with students from marginalized communities. Kristina holds an MS in Horticulture from Virginia Tech, a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, and a graduate certificate from The George Washington University in Sustainable Landscapes. Kristina has been working with trees and landscapes for over 30 years.
